Malende Residents Protest Military Abuses

In a heartfelt demonstration, residents of Malende, a village in the Muyuka Subdivision of the South West Region, have come together to protest against what they describe as military brutality and extortion in their community.

The protesters, primarily farmers, have voiced their deep concerns over the repeated abuses they have faced at the hands of soldiers, which include torture, harassment, and illegal demands for money.

Many of these farmers now live in fear, hesitant to venture into their fields due to the frequent mistreatment they encounter in the surrounding areas. This atmosphere of intimidation has not only affected their livelihoods but has also instilled a sense of helplessness among the community members.

The residents are urgently calling on local authorities to take decisive action to protect civilians from further abuses and restore a sense of safety in their daily lives. Their plea highlights the need for accountability and support for those who have suffered in silence for too long.
